I made my board out of Corflute, which I purchased from Bunnings. The board is light and cheap in price. You could make your board out of any number of materials. The life span required for the sequence board will determine what material you choose.

The ribbon has been joined together with velcro at the back so that it is able to be slided up, down, left, right or removed altogether. The number of sets of ribbon you need will depend on how big you make your board and how many squares you require. An alternative to ribbon is elastic.

The numbers to number the squares have been printed, laminated and cut out. How many numbers you need will vary.

The pictures or items requiring sequencing will be stuck onto the board with blue tack.

This resource can be used for so many different purposes; learning how to sequence story events, when learning money and ordering coins or notes in their correct value order, etc.

I have put together a unit plan: 'Picture this Pathway', which incorporates a sequence board to teach Year 2 Digital Technologies, Processes and Production Skills content descriptor: Follow, describe and represent a sequence of steps and decisions (algorithms) needed to solve simple problems (ACTDIP004).

A Sequence Board.
